The tenth anniversary edition of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race starts in August 2015 and the 40,000 mile route will take almost 12 months to complete. It is the world’s longest ocean race, and also one of the planet’s toughest endurance challenges.

Kirsty Whyte, winning crew member in the Clipper 09-10 Race (Spirit of Australia) and Managing Director of Clipper Ventures Australia, is holding the following, free crew presentations, for anyone interested in learning more about taking on this unique, global adventure challenge.

– Thursday, 25 September, at 6:30pm – Southport Yacht Club – Gold Coast, Queensland.
– Thursday 9th October, at 6:30pm – Royal Geelong Yacht Club – Geelong, Victoria.
– Thursday 16th October, at 1830 – Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron –  Adelaide, South Australia.

“Historically, Australia has had excellent success in the Clipper Race, producing race winning teams in the 2005-06 (WesternAustralia.com), 2009-10 (Spirit of Australia) and 2011-12 (Gold Coast Australia) series editions, said Kirsty Whyte. “Outside of the UK, Australia also has the second largest crew participation level, with almost 70 Australians having participating in the Clipper 2013-14 Race. It’s no wonder when you consider that many Australian’s grow up so close to the ocean, with a strong connection to the sea and miles of incredible waters to practice on.

“We’re hoping to build on these successes and continue to attract a strong Australian crew presence, especially now we have the Australian training facility. It is easier than ever before for Australian’s to train and enter the Clipper Race.”

The Clipper Race’s only non-UK race training facility, opened in Sydney in January 2014, allowing future crew from the Asia Pacific region the ability to train closer to home.

Less people have circumnavigated the world by sea than have climbed Everest, making the Clipper Race truly one of Mother Nature’s ultimate bucket list experiences. The only requirement is that you must be 18 and over, with a thirst for adventure and the strong desire to achieve something remarkable.
